Butler eagle classifieds12/19/2023 ![]() and I have plenty of choices of sales to go to that start at 8 o'clock, so why would I chance driving to the sale that doesn't say what time it starts? I might get there and have to come back an hour later. Then there are the people who say what they're selling and give good directions, but fail to say what time it starts. Or, what about people who place ads that read "Garage sale, (such and such a street/date/time)," but don't offer a general description of what they have to sell? I know I'm not going to that one for fear of wasting time and gasoline for probably nothing. Many streets are not even on the Butler map so it would be nice to mention some house numbers, directions or landmarks of where to turn. People also say "go right from Route 8" when they don't know which direction someone is coming from (it could be that we need to turn left). Other people advertise "Butler" when they should advertise Butler Township (and that could be any direction from the city). So, I have to watch the road and the color of houses? An address would be nice. One also advertised "blue house on 356 South." Is that the only blue house? Dark blue or light blue? How far down Route 356? Almost to Sarver? I went out Route 422 West once to get there, only to find out it was a different Country Club Road off Airport Road. Many of the ads written for sales sound very interesting but they sometimes omit important information.įor example, someone will advertise a sale on Country Club Road but not mention if it is Prospect or Butler. So, when I read the Eagle classified ads the night before I go to yard sales, I like to make my route, so I can save both gasoline and time. I'm sure there are people who have lived in the Butler area all their lives and can say the same thing. I know my way around, for the most part, but I can't say I know every back street and alley. I have been in the Butler area for four years. This letter is intended to educate people who are putting an ad in the Butler Eagle (or any newspaper). ![]() “This season has been a lot of fun, looking forward to Friday nights and going out and succeeding with the other guys.I always have been an avid "yard saler," so this letter speaks for all people who enjoy going to yard sales. “If we block well, that will allow our skill guys to make plays. “We have to get off the ball quickly on Friday,” Goodworth said. Goodworth credits the offensive line, which is led by Greater Allegheny Conference first-teamers Isaak Winters and Sean Franklin. Wright (17-260-4), Cole Yoshioka (12-160-2) and Liam Hein (23-177), among others, have combined to help fill the void. The passing game had to adjust after leading receiver Gabe Hein (43 catches for 774 yards and 8 scores) was lost to injury late in the regular season. to form a gameplan that highlights the strengths of the players on the field.” Eric is more mobile, so now when we call an RPO (run-pass option), if Luke keeps the ball, we’re looking to pass. “But how we attack a defense has changed. “Formation-wise, we’re running a spread, the same exact offense as last year,” he said. “Evan (Wright, star running back) was able to open things up for the passing game and I think our ability to throw the ball took some pressure off of him.”Ĭoach Kasperowicz is in his second season of leading the Planets. “Different guys were making plays and that helped a lot,” he said. In the first five games of the season, he passed for 1,064 yards, 10 TDs and no interceptions. Goodworth proved he was ready for the challenge of being the starter. He’s been pretty darn good at that, has taken care of the ball.” With as good as our running game is, Luke knows he doesn’t have to go out and win games, just don’t lose them. “We’re really excited with how he’s done. “He played really well for the junior varsity team last year and with Eric unable to go, it was next man up,” said Mars coach Eric Kasperowicz. He broke the school record for passing yards in a single season last month. Goodworth, a junior, enters the game with 2,052 passing yards and 20 touchdowns with just five interceptions. They will take on Aliquippa in a Class 4A semifinal Friday at North Allegheny’s Newman Stadium. Now, three months later, Goodworth and the Planets find themselves in the WPIAL’s final four. Goodworth broke Mars’ record for passing yards in a single season and is an integral part of a potent offense as the Planets prepare to take on Aliquippa in a WPIAL semifinal on Friday. ![]() Mars junior quarterback Luke Goodworth (15) talks with teammate Evan Wright during a game this season. ![]()
